"Pregnancy is Beautiful"

Oh, the harsh reality of swollen feet. I have one pair of work-appropriate shoes that have minimal contact with my feet- just a ring of material covering my toes. This allows my marshmellow feet space to balloon up throughout the day. Even so, my puffy skin spills over the loose material, impressing a line. A second indentation where my foot meets my leg is unavoidable. While my skin normally (pre-pregnancy) navigates this upward curve with no problem, when inflated it actually has to crease to make the angle. I find that my legs are often swollen as well, making it nearly impossible to cross my legs while sitting, and quite a challenge even to hoist one shin to rest atop my opposite knee. To accomplish this task, I pull the shin atop my knee by my pant leg. Then I rest my foot against my desk to keep the inflated leg from rebounding against itself and slipping off of my knee every 2 seconds. I don't jam my foot against the desk, mind you. The desk is merely there to stop the leg from going anywhere. And the 3 centimeter deep gouge pictured below is the result after about 25 minutes of sitting. It remains indented for about 15 minutes. The swelling overall takes about 8 hours of elevation (during sleep) to dissipate almost completely, but not actually all the way. When I wake up it's still stiff and uncomfortable to flex my feet.

Neeeeedless to say, I am uncomfortable for a great part of my day. Some of my maternity pants are unwearable because of the size that my calves become by about 10am onward. And I'm pretty sure that wearing tennis shoes or anything except sandals and these work shoes are all I will be able to wear for the remaining 3 months of pregnancy. Beautiful.
